About the Department

Department of Chemistry started its journey with B.Sc. (General Course)in 1955 under the University of Calcutta. B.Sc. (Honours) was introduced in 2003( Hons Affiliation: G.O. No. C/4609/83-Affl  dated 13.08.2003) with affiliation of the University of Calcutta   with an Intake Capacity  of 10 students.

The department is providing quality education in Chemistry and motivating the younger students of the district of North 24 Parganas to take carrier in Chemistry. Our students are doing well in Research and academic Areas.

Now the college is affiliated to West Bengal State University, Barasat. At Present sanctioned student strength is 37 in Honours Course. Two Full time teachers are performing teaching duties. Both teachers are engaged in research activities . Two well equipped laboratories are there in the department. Our departmental library has  good stock of  Honours level reference books for departmental students and teachers. Regular class tests are conducted in addition to  Test Examination in the college.
