About the Department

The department of Botany was initially established in the year 1955 as a part of Biosciences Department for teaching intermediate courses. The general BSc. In Botany, initiated in the year 1969 was affiliated to University of Calcutta. The department emerged as a honours department in the year 2003 under the able guidance of experienced teachers and skilled assistants. Since 2008, the courses got affiliated to West Bengal State University, Barasat. The department has a spacious and well equipped laboratory that fulfills the students requirements as per the syllabus. There is a departmental library which the students use as and when required.
